BowStone is proud to be located in Ball Ground, Georgia—tucked away in the northern part of Cherokee County. Rich with Native American history and home to nearly 1,000 residents, Ball Ground's unique name can be traced all the way back to the 1700's.
Two and one-half miles to the east of the town, near the confluence of Long-Swamp Creek and the Etowah River, is the traditional site of Taliwa', the most decisive battle of the war between Cherokee and Creek Indians. Cherokee history tells that the conflict over territory was determined by a stickball game here.
